I started riding bikes at age 3 and racing by age 7. At 18, I lost the chance to race a world cup at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec. My parents had already booked a hotel for us to go but three days before the race, we got a phone call – and I was cut from the national team. Heartbroken, I left the sport and went to university to study accounting.
Three years into university, a series of unfortunate accidents resulted in three concussions in less than three months. I had to step away for a year of intense cognitive rehab. But I fought back, returned, and graduated. I returned home from school.
I started working. Obtained my CPA. Started my own accounting firm, and built it into a $1M dollar business in 3 years.
In the final year of operating my firm, I still had a burning desire to achieve something in professional cycling.
I decided to take one last shot at pursuing my bike dreams - this time in a discipline I was built for (sprint track cycling), so I sold my firm and reinvested the proceeds into building a software that could help me achieve it – Factors Training, a software for track cyclists.
I know what it takes to build from the ground up, recover from debilitating setbacks, and execute at the highest level—both in business and in sport.
With the help of Factors, I am working towards competing on the World Cup stage for the very first time. Over the past year, I’ve seen success racing internationally, and have more recently started training with Team Canada.
The World cup dream has been burning inside me since I was 13 years old. Nearly 20 years later, I am chasing it one last time.
Most Canadian athletes don’t stop pursuing elite sport because they get old, they stop because they can’t keep putting the rest of their life on hold. I’m building Factors to be the foundation of my future beyond sport.
We already have multiple world-class, international track cyclists using the app to optimize their performance, and a group of passionate investors who helped us get to where we are today.
