Canadian Track Sprint Cyclist
I feel privileged to keep striving in this sport, and to find out how fast and how technically sharp I can become on the track.
Track sprinting is one of the fastest human-powered sports in the world. The flying 200m world record averages 81.3 km/h, on a bike with one gear and no brakes.
I started riding bikes at 3 and racing cross-country mountain bikes at 7. At 18, two days before my first World Cup race, I was cut before I ever had the chance to compete on the global stage.
Where it started.
At 21 I got 3 concussions in a 3 month span. Months in physical rehab. Years in psychological therapy. Somewhere in there I became a CPA, started my own accounting firm and built Factors, the training app I now use every day.
In 2024, at nearly 30, I got back on the bike. Now, at 32, I’ve been invited to train with some of the best in the world. I feel privileged every day that I get to keep chasing progress in this sport: getting faster, improving my race craft, and seeing just how far I can take it on the track.
That crash is not going to define who you are. How you respond to it will.
